Yangjun Zhang, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Master Tutor of Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine. His researches are focused on the study of short column theory for protein separation by HPLC, the design and manufacture of chromatographic pie, the technology of renaturation and simultaneous purification of biopolymers by HPLC, the establishment of technological platforms based on 2-D HPLC coupling with MS/MS for profiling proteome of human liver tissue and its organelles, human plasma, and relative quantitation for screening of differential proteins for the candidates as biomarkers for disease diagnosis and drug-targets of new drug development for therapy.
Dr. Zhang is also interested in research in chromatographic behavior, and mechanism of proteins and peptides using mass spectrometry, especially membrane related proteins; new methods for relative and absolute quantitation of proteomes from different origins for biomarker discovery and verification with chemically assisted modification; selectively labeling and enrichment method and identification for proteome profiling and posttranslational modification in some special amino acids, such as cysteine, serine, threonine, tyrosine, and so on. He is now placing emphases on preparing monolithic capillary column with emitter tip and its coupling with MALDI TOF\TOF MS and ESI MS as well as terminal labeling of protein or peptides and their separation and enrichment, and hope to solve the problems in the analyses of complex biological samples.
He successfully charged the National Key Program for Basic Research of China (973), The National Key Program for Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development, The National Program for High Technology Research and Development (863), and The National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Zhang has gained multiple awards including Beijing science and technology award，Chinese Medical Science Prize and Chinese preventive medicine science and technology awards. He applied more than ten patents and has been authorized one patents， and published more than 20 research papers in SCI journals such as MCP, Anal Chem and ANALYST.
